And then, most of the digimon we meet generally remain in a "child" stage of growth, and since digimon have the ability not only to level-up as they gain data, but also to level back down as they lose it (with their mental and physical maturity shifting appropriately). The digi-destined are not only the partners of the digimon, but in many cases also their caretakers (and even their creators, such as Takato's situation). In that case, shipping the digi-destined and their digimon would be akin to shipping a parent and a child - a tabboo in only. um. EVERY CULTURE.
